Known for world-class horticulture, Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a must-visit for Durham visitors and locals alike. The grounds are open 8 am to dusk every day, and you’ll need all the time you can get to explore the over 55 acres of specialized gardens in the heart of Duke University.

Tour the Blomquist Garden of Native Plants, Doris Duke Center Gardens, and Culberson Asiatic Arboretum and other gorgeous natural areas - free of charge. We visited earlier in September, but now would be a perfect time for leaf peepers to see an array of colorful foliage on the garden’s many deciduous trees.

The gardens also serve as a venue for corporate and nonprofit events, weddings, and portraits and special occasions photography, and offer tons of programs and events for individuals of all ages. Please find information on accessibility here.
